D&S has been selected to replace the existing salt screw conveyor at Port Lincoln salt processing facilities by one entire unit. The challenge was to install the screw unit in a shutdown, while working in a crowded and sensitive environment avoiding the salt processing shutting down for an extended period.
Scope of Work
Design and fabricate a screw to be easily adaptable in the site’s environment, taking in account the salt processing operation, by designing and adapting all supporting material to the existing old structure. The scope was to remove the existing screw in place, reinforce the actual wall by pouring armed concrete to receive the supporting structure, fabricate and install the new support according to design, replace the safety handrails and install two new screws with connection to the existing process facilities.
